NicaPhoto has partnered with Level Up Village, an organization that provides innovative STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) based after-school classes to children in a way that inspires global citizenship and a love of learning.
Global Doctors, Global Video Design, Global Inventors, Minecraft and Little Engineers are a few of the classes we have offered at NicaPhoto. These classes are offered simultaneously to students in the US and the two groups collaborate on projects via live Skype video chats. These cutting edge experiences have provided exposure to technology-forward learning and experiences, inspiring our children to see a world beyond their neighborhood.
$60 provides Nicaphoto with internet for 1 month.
NicaPhoto has also partnered with The Community Bots, an New York City based organization providing training in STEM-robotics for middle school girls in under-served communities.
In June 2017, Jack Cooley and Ana Agón visited NicaPhoto to give an eight day workshop, including teacher training, to young girls at the project. The workshop was a huge success, with the girls so engaged that they would ask for more class time. That said, five NicaPhoto teachers have been trained and are continuing the robotics class, once a week, with the support of Jack and Ana.
